Brita Jorde holds master degrees in civil engineering, business administration and urbanism, and therefore has a multi-disciplinary educational background.  She has wide experience within research, analyses, evaluation, consulting, strategy development and project management related to transport, environmental issues and urban development. Among her core fields of expertise are planning principles and strategies for more sustainable and climate friendly land use and urban development, coordinated land use and transportation planning, public transport and measures for improved efficiency and sustainability within the transportation sector, urban space and centre development, and environmental issues related to large scale urban development projects. She also has expertise related to how planning, environment and surroundings impact physical activity levels and public health. 

Jorde has previously worked for authorities at different levels of public administration (Ministry of Environment, Directorate of Health, and both the Transportation and Urban Planning Departments in the Municipality of Oslo), and hence has wide experience related to necessary cooperation across sectors and levels of administration. She also has experience from international work, within the areas of sustainable transport, planning and public health.
