Oslo, 16.09.2021

John Magne Skjelvik at Vista Analyse has together with the independent consultant Bjørn Larsen over the last year carried out several assignments for the World Bank. These have comprised a study on estimates of health effects from outdoor ambient air pollution, household air pollution from use of solid fuels, lead (Pb) exposure among children and adults, and inadequate drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in Mexico, and their estimated monetized social and economic costs. The assignment in Mexico also includes an assessment of the economic costs of natural resource degradation and natural disasters in the country in 2019.

Furthermore, a study on global health benefits of PM2.5 air quality improvements has been carried out. Over 6.4 million people died from PM2.5 air pollution worldwide in 2019. They have also done a study on the costs of global lead (Pb) pollution. An economic assessment of the costs of air pollution in the Hanoi Capital Region and the Red River Delta in Vietnam has also been completed.

Currently they are working on a study on health effects and costs of ambient PM2.5 air pollution in Bangladesh, and a study on the costs of natural resource degradation in developing countries.
