Biogas on the agenda: Knowledge Exchange between Poland and Norway

Oslo, 05.03.2024

This week, Vista is hosting Polish colleagues as part of our joint project, "Green Transition in Practice". The project aims to promote the green transition in Poland and Norway by demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of using bio‑waste for biogas production. In collaboration with the Institute of Environmental Protection (IOS) in Poland, we are conducting a pre‑feasibility study focusing on how the Tomaszów Mazowiecki–Opoczno municipal partnership in Poland can best utilise its bio‑resources.

The visiting group includes staff from the IOS research institute as well as representatives from the Municipality of Tomaszów Mazowiecki. The main focus of the visit is to exchange experiences on bio‑waste management, the production of biogas and biomethane, and the barriers that prevent the biogas market from growing. The programme includes internal talks and discussions, presentations by Biogass Norge and Biogass Oslofjord, and a visit to VEAS, Norway’s largest wastewater treatment plant, which also produces liquefied biogas (LBG).
