New project: Consequences of increased NOx tax as an alternative to extended environmental agreement

The NOx Fund will negotiate with the authorities on a continuation of the NOx agreement from 2018. As part of the negotiations with the authorities on a continuation of the agreement after 2027 (originally 2025), the NOx Fund has asked Vista Analyse to assess the commercial consequences of increased NOx tax alternatively to an extended environmental agreement. This has been implemented in the form of an update of Vista Analyse's report from 2016, which can be read here (in Norwegian).

Companies that join the agreement are exempt from NOx tax in return for assuming commitments to reduce emissions vis-à-vis the Business Sector's NOx fund. The fund is a joint venture where participating companies can apply for support for emission-reducing measures. Payments to the fund replace the government's NOx tax for the affiliated companies. We will therefore analyse the industrial consequences of taxing industries that are currently affiliated with the NOx Fund and thus exempt from the NOx tax.
